It’s ok to take a break from sewing
I took a major break from sewing this year and do you know what, it felt good! I didn’t sew from April - August! I’d lost all motivation simply because I didn’t need anything. I had everything that I needed already in my wardrobe so making something new just felt a waste.
I’ve also been focussing a lot of my time on the garden. I work full time so there is only so much time for hobbies and from Apr - Aug the garden was taking up all of this time.
As my name suggests, blooms are one of the things that I love. I’ve been focussing all my energy during these months on growing flowers, not only to look gorgeous in the garden (and attract wildlife) but also for crafting. I’ve been learning lots of new crafts based around flowers, watch this space for more details soon!
How beautiful are the David Austin roses that have been blooming all summer.
It’s been wonderful to get the “proper” camera out again too to take gorgeous floral photographs.
Now that we have hit August, the Dahlias are coming into full bloom. They are so wonderful. I just wish the slugs didn’t like them as much as they do!
I’m quite new to gardening with any kind of purpose, but totally loved the time in the garden this year. I look forward to sharing more about the crafts and skills that I’ve been learning.
