Colour consultation - Dominant colours

Colour makes such a difference to how you feel, how you look and how others perceive you. If you wear the right colours your face will light up, your eyes will be wide and bright and shadows and lines will reduce. Your clothing will compliment your skin tone, eyes and hair colour and will not overpower you or wash you out.

Take a look at the pictures below and notice the following (there has been no editing at all on these pictures, they were taken one immediately after the other sitting directly in front of a window).

On the photo with the black fabric, you see the black before you see me, you see more shadows and lines under and around my eyes, my skin looks a little uneven and I have a dark shadow under my chin. The colour looks harsh on me and doesn’t harmonise with my features.

On the photo with the sage green, the shadows and lines are reduced under and around my eyes. My skin looks clearer and smoother, the shadow under my chin is softer, you see me before the colour and it works in harmony with my hair, skin and eye colour.

Let’s take a look at it in clothes form. Again the images were taken one directly after the other and neither have been edited at all.

On one image I’m wearing very dark charcoal with a black jacket. Notice how your eyes are immediately drawn to the clothing and not me. The colours look harsh and drag my features down (look how my eyes are drooping a little). I have a deep shadow under my chin and I feel that it makes me look tired.

On the other I’m wearing sage green with a taupe jacket. This is much more in harmony with my colouring. You notice my eyes more, my hair looks a little softer and brighter. My skin tone is more even and glowing, my features are lifted and there is no harsh shadow under my chin.

Let’s look at another colour, red. On me it washes me out and makes me look a little pasty. It doesn’t look good against my skin and hair. Yet my beautiful client looks amazing in it. Her skin looks clear, her eyes sparkle and it looks great against her hair. Knowing what colours work for you really can change the way you look and feel.

Want to find out your dominant colours?

I have trained with the amazing Colour Me Beautiful and currently offer a dominant colour consultation. This is a really relaxed and fun session (which lasts approximately 1.5-2 hours) where I will identify your dominant colours (light, deep, warm, cool, clear, soft) through analysing your skin tone, eyes and hair colour. It involves the use of coloured drapes to test, check and demonstrate so you will be able to see for yourself what a difference the right colours make (you will literally see your face light up).

I will demonstrate how you can work with your palette, combining colours that look fantastic together enabling you to plan your outfits easily.

Below is my gorgeous client wearing some of her best colours from the clear palette.

I will also guide you through the right makeup colours to compliment your dominants and there will be plenty of opportunity to test and try as I walk you through a simple makeup application (if you wish of course).

Included in the price is a colour wallet which consists of your palette of 30 colours. You can use this when shopping in store or online to help you to ensure that you are buying clothes/fabrics that you will look and feel amazing in. No more wasted and unloved clothes!
