A mug of flowers
I’m so pleased to say that I have so many roses and sweet peas in bloom than I can’t keep up with cutting them! Ive started to create beautiful mini bouquets and placed them into mugs. It beats having to buy mini vases!
As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve been spending lots of time trying to learn how to use my camera on manual mode. It’s a steep learning curve but I love how the image above turned out. I’m really drawn to underexposed/darker images as I think they look so soothing and romantic.
To create these lovely mini bouquets I placed floristry frogs as the bottom of the mugs. This just helps to build a display rather than having the flowers tipping into different directions. It’s great when using these frogs as you really can make what you visualise in your mind (rather than the flowers doing their own thing). I ensure that I pick some flowers that have unusually shaped stems to ensure that everything isn’t too upright.
The display above is mainly sweet peas. I truly cannot believe how many flowers I’m getting from my sweet pea teepee, I could definitely fill a vase a day. It’s also important to have plenty of greenery. I have loads of ferns in the garden so regularly pick from them, I also have 2 eucalyptus trees and several other shrubs.
I truly can’t get enough of picking and displaying the flowers from the garden, it brings me so much joy. It will be just a few more weeks until the dahlia come into bloom so I can’t wait to build some displays with those. I only wish that they would last forever.
